This little webapp was created by @mafu_d as a simple way of making sound effects for a small DC model railway. The idea is simply to run this on a phone (or other device), ideally connected to a speaker mounted somewhere on the layout, and use the controls simultaneously to controlling a locomotive.
If you have any suggestions or improvements, feel free to contact me on Twitter: @mafu_d.
These sounds will play on loop until you stop them.
These sounds are recorded from on board a Class A1X Terrier.
The 'steam' sound is good for a steam loco at rest, or idling. Once the loco is in motion, this could be turned off, and perhaps reinstated as the loco coasts to a stop.
The 'start' sound is a preset recording of the full starting process, from pulling away to gathering speed. This does not loop. It is advisable to swap out to one of the other sounds at some point as necessary.
The 'slow', 'medium' and 'fast' sounds are as you'd expect, and loop indefinitely.
This is currently a single source sound of a diesel engine idling, sped up to suggest an increase in revs, which currently isn't very realistic, but will suffice for the moment.
